We are the Griffins
We first met back in 2006. It was November. Our courtship was short – just 7 month and in June of 2007 we were married.
In 2008 we purchased our first camper, a Sprinter 5th wheel. It was fantastic. We set up in May at a campground in Lee, NH called Ferndales Acres and loved the experience.
By August of 2008 we were hooked. We then decided that we could throw caution to the wind the spend the winter in Florida. I had a season job (Ice cream truck driver/business manager) and Russ worked for a national RV Dealership so the ease of escaping for the winter was in our grasp.
On October 15th of that year, we left NH and headed south to Florida. On our way, we upgraded to our first Motorhome. “The Beast”. She was a beautiful girl that we purchased just outside of Hilton Head. Traded our 5th Wheel and Truck for the Motorhome. We were delighted.
For 3 years we were able to flee the New England winter weather and put our wheels down in Florida. It was during the summer before our 3rd year that we adopted our sweet girl ShannonBelle.
After our 3rd winter of 2011 we made the hard decision to step away from our life on the road and RV living to settle down and get to work. We had enjoyed our time in the RV but the responsibilities of work made it more and more difficult to get away.
We were fortunate enough to sell both the motorhome and tow vehicle to a lovely couple from Europe who’s wish it was to travel the country in a Motorhome.
Flash Forward to fall of 2021.
It’s been 10 years since we left the road and over the years, we have spoke quite often about hitting the road again. Fate would have it that the “perfect for us” motorhome was found in the fall and timing couldn’t have been better. With retirement just around the corner we took the plunge and went “all-in.”
The winter was spent packing the house, down-sizing, and preparing ourself for the transition to full-timing. It is not April 16th. The house is under agreement, the motorhome comes out of storage on Wednesday and the movers will empty the house the middle of May. (Our furniture and “treasures” will go to storage)
This is an exciting time for us. This blog will be about our travels. We will share our adventures both big and small and lessons learned along the way.
Thanks for following along.
